Okay, team Spirit Sox, this is BIG—like, major leagues big. We’ve got an exciting announcement that we can finally share with all of you: Spirit Sox is now the official sock supplier for the Women’s Elite Rugby (WER) professional league! 🎉🏉
That’s right, a professional women’s rugby league is launching in the U.S. this year, and we’re making the official team socks that every single player will be wearing on the field. How cool is that?! Talk about a pinch me moment and a dream come true! (Especially for us women-owned, female power types. 😉♀️)

Game On!
All of us here at Spirit Sox can’t wait for the first game, not only for the revolution for women in sports all across America, but also for the honor of having our very own female team’s work displayed out on a professional rugby field! To elaborate more, here’s the scoop on this exciting partnership and more about the WER league itself:
- The Women’s Elite Rugby league features six teams across the U.S.
- Our custom athletic socks will be part of the official player uniforms – yep, every tackle, sprint, and score will happen with Spirit Sox on their feet!
- The WER season kicks off on March 22nd, but our two local teams—the Bay Breakers (San Francisco) and Denver Onyx (Colorado) —make their debut on March 29th for their inaugural game.
- We’re hoping to expand into fan gear too, so stay tuned!
Why This Matters
There’s no denying that women’s sports are finally, FINALLY, receiving their well-deserved, long-awaited public interest and recognition in recent years. Particularly with how the sport of women’s rugby became one of the hottest topics of the past 2024 Paris Olympics, especially since our Team USA won its first-ever medal in the sport 🥇🏆, there’s no wonder that a new professional women’s rugby league was finally brought to the US! (And might we add, with how women’s sports have seen such a huge growth trend in just a short amount of time – IT’S ABOUT GOSH DARN TIME!) ♀️
So, what is the significance of this news to Spirit Sox? Unmeasurable. For Lisa, women’s sports have always been a huge passion of hers. In fact, when she found out she was having a daughter, the very first thing she hung in her baby room, before anything else, was a Title IX poster. For those who don’t know, this is a federal law that ensures female athletes are awarded the same, equal opportunities as male athletes in college sports. This law, which was passed back in 1972, protects against discrimination based on sex (including sexual harassment) and is so true to Lisa’s heart that it has greatly shaped much of her support for women in sports. Let’s go girls! (cue the Shania Twain song 😉)
So, to now be a significant part of something as groundbreaking as the first-ever professional women’s rugby league in the U.S. is an absolute honor, to say the least.
